LO3 Evaluation + Drama

Evaluation

Our single drama was finally completed! But overall, I think as a group, we could have planned our single drama better, and got someone to help us film.
It was hard going with just three of us.
Me and Gift were concentrating on acting and Shoaib had to do most the filming and directing, which he found hard. Gift also did some filming but he was worse than Shoaib. We had to film some scenes twice, but it still wasn't great. The script looked ok but the tight friendship between Gift and Anthony characters wasn't obvious. The final film wasn't as good as we wanted. There were loads of missed opportunities when we were filming but Shoaib didn't get into it.

We should have planned the storyboard better. Shoaib was our cameraman and he wasn't very skilled or confident. There was alot of pressure on him to do it right. Looking back on it, a proper storyboard would have helped. We should have practiced our photography skills and how to set up the shots and camera but we didn't and it showed in the film. The hand held filming didn't work and we should have used a tripod. The lighting in the changing room looked ok but the shots of Shoaib are too dark.

I really enjoyed the editing but could have used more effects to change the colour and brightness to make it look more professional. Premier Pro was really easy to use, considering I hadn't had much practice on it. I forgot to do the editing screen shots but I must have spent weeks putting the whole thing together. I think the continuity editing worked and some of the match on action editing is good.

If I could do this again, I would get a bigger film crew - someone who was good at photography to film and some much better actors. I would also spend more time writing and improving the script and drawing or photographing a storyboard. Me and Gift have the football skills, which I really enjoyed but I think we should leave the acting to one side.

LO2 Lighting

We do not have any lighting systems or lights available at school that we can use for our drama. This was a consideration when we scouted for our locations.

This was not a problem because we needed a natural lighting look. All our locations had good lighting and our exterior shots used natural day light. We wanted a high key lighting look to help create our drama's realism.

The lighting in the changing room scene was not very bright.
